About the Course

With the Digital Literacy Curriculum, it is important to learn how to teach coding and how to integrate it into our teaching.

Learn about coding and computer programming with fun, easy-to-use iPad apps and web resources that encourage critical thinking skills and make learning fun and relevant for students from K-6. This course introduces coding concepts and pedagogy for teachers of P-6 (QLD) or T-6 (NT) school students with activities that include problem-solving, sequencing, designing, mathematical and computational skills and simple code presented in fun and interactive ways that engage young students.

Will also include an introduction to robotics and resources for use in education. Experience robotics in action with Sphero SPRK+, Dash and Dot, and more, and imagine the fun and learning it could bring to your classroom!

Lesson plans and a Scope and Sequence linked to curriculum outcomes provided. Hands-on time to experiment with apps.

Learn how to use iPads as an effective teaching and learning tool in the 21st Century classroom with creative tasks, collaboration and higher-order thinking linked to many curriculum areas, but with a strong emphasis on STEM subjects.

Bring an iPad to get the most out of the day in a hands-on environment. You may also like to bring a laptop for web-based resources.

“Thanks Bev , it was a great day full of practical ideas that aren’t expensive, that I can start implementing straight away.”
